1500 Revolution Concept

By Doug Clayton, EVGrok Staff Writer

Alright Mopar faithful and EV heads, lets dive into the 2027 Dodge 1500 Revolution Concept that gave us a serious look at what Dodge is planning for its electric truck future. This isnt just a battery strapped into a traditional frame; its built on the dedicated STLA Frame platform. Key tech here is the 800V architecture, which Dodge is calling "MegaPower." This higher voltage system is crucial for enabling faster DC charging speeds, potentially allowing significant range replenishment in much shorter times compared to 400V systems. The concept hinted at dual-motor capability, which would naturally provide all-wheel drive and allow for substantial power output figures, aligning with the performance expectations from the brand.

Beyond the foundational platform, the Revolution Concept showcased some interesting technical and functional design elements enabled by the EV layout. The absence of a large internal combustion engine allows for a powered frunk, adding valuable secure storage. More innovative is the powered midgate with a pass-through into the cab and potentially even extending into the frunk, creating an impressive 18-foot load capability. The cabin itself featured flexible seating, including potential jump seats in the rear, demonstrating how the flat EV floor can be utilized for versatile interior configurations. Technology integration was prominent, with multiple large displays and features like augmented reality head-up display hinted at, suggesting a highly digital user interface.

Charging the Revolution Concept is where the 800V system really shines, promising the ability to add significant range in minutes at high-power DC fast chargers. The concept also explored automated charging solutions, like a robotic charger that could potentially plug itself in. On the performance front, while specific motor outputs werent detailed, the dual-motor setup on the STLA Frame platform is designed for robust power delivery, torque, and potentially advanced traction control systems. The concept also hinted at air suspension, allowing for adjustable ride height, beneficial for both off-road capability and potentially improving aerodynamic efficiency at speed.
